ABOUT US

First Baptist Church has been part of the Brownsdale community since 1867. We are an autonomous baptist church that is in fellowship with the Minnesota and General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. We are a church of devoted disciples seeking to grow in Christ-likeness as we seek to share the gospel in our community and around the world.

OUR VISION

At First Baptist, we pursue the Glory of God through worship, giving, missions and discipleship.

We strive to serve Jesus Christ and each other, in order to magnify His name.

At the heart of everything we do is the understanding that we must love God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind, and to treat our neighbors as we wish to be treated ourselves.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Scripture Alone

We believe in the 66 books of the Bible. That the Scriptures are the written Word of God and are our final authority for life and doctrine. We believe that Scripture has what we need to understand the Gospel.

Glory to God

Above all else we seek to glorify God in all we say and do. The Bible tells us that even the smallest thing we do can be to God's glory (1 Cor 10:31). We focus on giving God the glory in our lives and worship.

By Grace Alone, Through Faith Alone

We believe that salvation comes from Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection; and that we can only experience salvation by God's grace and our faith.

OUR ASSOCIATION

We are in fellowship with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches (GARBC) and the Minnesota Association of Regular Baptist Churches (MARBC).

Our Pastor

Pastor Ben has served here at First Baptist since July 2018. Having grown up in a Christian home, he felt God's call to full-time ministry during High School. He graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA in 2011.  At FBBC he met his wife, Mariah, who is a Brownsdale native. After graduating from FBBC with BA in Pastoral Studies, Ben needed to go into secular work in Ankeny to support their growing family. In June of 2017, Ben and Mariah moved to Brownsdale with their oldest children (James and Caelie). After joining the membership of First Baptist Church, he was able to serve as a deacon before the Lord providentially led to Ben's being called as pastor. Ben and Mariah have welcomed 3 more children to their family after moving to Brownsdale (twins Samuel and Daniel, and Rebecca).

Ben serves on the board of a local pro-life family center (Rachel's Hope). He also serves as a Pastor-trustee for Minn Regular Baptist Camp (Bass Lake), and on the Council of Seven of the Minn Association of Regular Baptist Churches.
